Organization Policy on Ancillary Reviews for Human Subject Research Studies (Policy No. 103.10(a))
August 2007

It is the Organization’s policy that all required ancillary committee reviews be complete before the IRB approves research, except for ancillary committees that review and approve research for their location after the IRB has approved the research (e.g., Baltimore City Health Department). The Vice Dean for Clinical Investigation reviews periodically the Organization ancillary committee review requirements to assure that the process and communications proceed smoothly.

JHM IRB

All required ancillary committee reviews (CCOI, CRRC/RDRC, P&T, IBC) must be completed before an application is approved by the reviewing IRB, except as noted above.

CIRB and PedCIRB

The JHM IRBs will conduct a facilitated review process for CIRB approved projects. The facilitated review process incorporates the required ancillary reviews.
