JHM Research WebNotes

June 18, 2008

Dear Colleagues,

As many of you will recall, JHM received full accreditation from the Association for the Accreditation of Human Research Protection Programs (AAHRPP) in June 2005. Accreditation reflects a standard of excellence in the Human Research Protection Program that is based on the knowledge, hard work and dedication of investigators and their research teams, the JHM IRBs that review human subjects research, and the staff of the Office of Human Subjects Research that administers the program.  I am pleased to inform you that on June 13, 2008, JHM received reaccreditation from AAHRPP for another three year period.  I believe that reaccreditation shows JHM has a deep commitment to the safety of human subjects who participate in research projects and thank everyone for their commitment to this high standard.  As a result of the reaccreditation process, several policies and guidances have been updated.  The information will be posted on the IRB website (http://irb.jhmi.edu) over the next several weeks.  Please check the website for changes, and do not hesitate to contact staff at OHSR if you have any questions about the changes.

Sincerely,

Daniel E. Ford, M.D., M.P.H.
Vice Dean for Clinical Investigation
