Johns Hopkins University School of Nursing
January 2009

Submission of human subjects research applications to the IRB from SON faculty does not require pre-review at the School level.  SON faculty who have, or will receive, funding from a federal agency (NIH, FDA, Department of Defense, CDC, AHRQ, etc.) should include in the submission a copy of the scientific review outcome from the study section (the “pink sheets”) or agency that reviewed the funding application.

The SON Center for Nursing Research is available to assist SON faculty who may have questions about preparation of an application for IRB review.  The Center for Nursing Research (CNR) website is: http://www.nursing.jhu.edu/research/overview.aspx.  Questions about the SON requirements for conduct of human subjects research should be directed to the CNR Research Compliance Administrator at 443-287-2902.
