July 2009 Effective 1/1/2007, all new applications for human subjects research required submission to the JHM IRBs using the eIRB system. The contractual relationship with WIRB remains as they continue to review amendments, change in investigators, continuing reviews, etc. for open studies originally reviewed and approved by them. The commercial/industry sponsor should be billed by WIRB for review fees using the sponsor contact information provided by the PI for all actions reviewed by WIRB unless alternate billing/payment arrangements were approved by the JHM/WIRB Liaison. Please check the WIRB web page http://www.wirb.com/ for possible changes in the fee structure that is listed below. The School of Medicine will continue to be billed by WIRB for all review actions on federally funded JHU submitted studies initially approved by WIRB. For studies reviewed by the JHM IRB, review fees as described below will be charged for studies with commercial financial support in excess of $10,000. The JHM IRB review fees will be charged against the study internal order number or to the designated departmental/divisional internal order at the time of IRB approval.
